Cultural Council

Culture is the widening of the mind and of the spirit’, says Pt.Jawaharlal Nehru.  Our Foundress embodied culture in various forms. She identified herself as an Indian vociferously. This forms the heart andcore of the Cultural Council. Culture defines countries, religions, tribes and also the individual. India, having birthed one of the earliest civilizations in the world has a unique yet in-depth perception of ‘Culture’. While students are the living and breathing property of the school, it naturally becomes a priority to show them the proper gateway to being cultured.

The Cultural Council led by Ms.Sathiya and her deputy Mrs. Raja Rajeswari along with 49 members believe in infusing the cultural enthusiasm with an educative entertainment also called the edutainment. This topic has been the solution of most educationists for today’s generation. Being bookworms or nerds does not ensure all round development or the ‘artistic temperament’. The council teachers and students are involved round the year with various competitions and displays to show their diverse yet healthy exposure to art.

Parents’ Day is a celebration on a grand scale and the council makes no exemptions. With a wide range of chief guests and appreciators of art and culture, song and dance, the day is celebrated in absolute gala mode. Steps are being undertaken to teach students their culture through language, music, dance, mime in order toenhance and cultivate their repertoire.

Every segment right from the colourful ‘Kolam’ at the entrance to the jumpy tunes of the opening choir followed by a variety of displays, the council closely follows to make sure that the students are ready for a culture bred society in the future. During Republic and Independence days, the council members come together to put up a splendid depiction at the District Collectorate, during which very many times, we have been named winners. During the cold winter-struck December accompanied by exams, the students set apart time to help the council in creating exciting yet novel versions of the age-old nativity play.

Our Foundress was rooted in India and South India was no mystery to her. She started her journey here and ended here. But she always wished for the children to be able to perceive culture along with education. She did not enforce wrongful conservativeness but taught everyone how culture advocates the radical and the rational.
